Getting a handle on basic

Good sources of healthy fats

Fat comes in numerous types, including:

Unsaturated: Liquid at room-temperature and generally considered heart healthier. Present in plants like nuts, seeds, vegetable oils, and seafood.
Saturated: Solid at room-temperature and found in pet foods, like animal meat and butter, along with coconut and palm-oil. Usually deemed bad for the heart, but scientific studies are equivocal. "Some resources are actually good for us, " states Brianna Elliott, RD, a nutritionist located in St. Paul, Minn.
Trans: Liquid fats made solid through an ongoing process known as hydrogenation. Found in fried meals, baked products, and refined snacks. These heart-health wreckers had been banned through the meals offer in 2015. They will be gone by 2018.

"exactly what really matters is where the foundation of fat is coming from. The fats within processed junk foods and store-bought baked items are not so great for us, while fat from more natural meals like avocados, grass-fed beef, and olives are useful" says Elliott.
